Biography / Trivia
French-born film and video game music composer, best
known in VGM circles for his work on the Ratchet & Clank series.
His father a choreographer and his mother a singer, he began composing
from an early age, and at the age of 10 began studying music for a
decade at a school which has since closed. He moved to Los Angeles to
further his musical studies, and in 1987 began professionally composing
for numerous American films. In 1994 he gained much fame for the score
to the TV series Earth 2. In 1996 he composed his first known video
game soundtrack, Insomniac Games’ Disruptor. 1997 saw his most famous
and arguably best non-VGM work the medieval score to the film Prince
Valiant. From there, 1998 saw the release of Running Wild, his last
video game score for four years. In the meantime he continued composing
for film and TV. In 2002 he returned to composing game music, for
Insomniac’s Ratchet & Clank series, which would earn him great
respect among the video game music community. Three sequels later, he
is showing no signs of slowing down, with multiple film projects
completed and PS3 releases on the horizon.
Under the pseudonym KOR, David also acts as a producer for various artists in the mainstream industry, including Renfey. He also contributes as a co-writer and played guitar and keyboard during live performances.
- Influential artists include Bella Bartok, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Chemical Brothers, Miles Davis, and Led Zeppelin.
