Biography / Trivia

Michael Maidment is a freelance British composer and sound designer known for working with Introversion Software. He started working in sound design in the late 1990s by creating soundsets for Roger Bolton's scores for British television programs. His soundsets featured on documentaries such as the BBC's Lost Gods of Easter Island and Channel 4's Empires of Stone and God's Warriors. He later created title sequence music for Channel 4.

In the early 2000s, Maidment composed a variety of production music for TWI, Carlin, and Jukebox. His music offered unique blends of compelling orchestration and electronic beats in their soundtracks. He later went on to write soundtracks for independent films and animation such as Unsound Mind and The Hit.

Most recently, Maidment has joined a small team of developers at Introversion Software. Alongside Alistair Lindsay, he has been responsible for the composition of DEFCON: Everybody Dies and Multiwinia: Survival of the Flattest. He has also received praise for his haunting sound design on the apocalyptic DEFCON: Everybody Dies and sound effects on Darwinia.
