Biography / Trivia
Christopher Lennertz is an orchestral video game, film, and television composer known for his work on Medal of Honor and James Bond projects. He first started to become passionate about music when he moved to Easton, Pennsylvania at the age of nine. He subsequently studied composition and theory at high school and studied under Elmer Bernstein and Christopher Young at USC's Thornton School of Music. He has composed for films and television since 1994, but most of his early projects were commercially and critically unsuccessful. Among the better known titles were Midnight Tease, Piranha, Alien Terminator, and Brimstone in addition to several projects where he worked as an orchestrator, supervisor, or conductor under artists such as Michael Kamen.
In 1999, Lennertz co-founded music production studio Sonic Fuel with fellow composer Timothy Michael Wynn and two engineers. This allowed him to find a niche creating music for commercials and arrangements for artists like Ozomantlis. It also resulted in his involvement in some high profile television and film projects like Saint Sinner and Soul Plane. In 2005, he was also selected as the lead composer of Medal of Honor: Rising Sun and has since continued to develop Michael Giacchino's militaristic musical foundations for the series with Pacific Assault and European Assault. Given the attention generated by these projects, Lennertz was an obvious choice to create the emotional orchestral action scores to GUN and The Punisher.
Lennertz has also finally been given the opportunity to score some big budget television projects. Thanks to a childhood friendship with Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, he was selected to score most episodes of the hit series. He also continues to score for his primary love, film projects, composing the family films Shark Bait, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Dr. Dolittle 3 as well as the parodies Meet the Spartans and Disaster Movie. His latest video game projects are The Simpsons Game, Warhawk and the cancelled Tiberium. Following his work on GoldenEye: Agent Under Fire and 007: From Russia With Love, Lennertz will score Quantum of Solace's video game adaptation.
