Biography

French composer and founder of the the Shooting Star label. Acoustic, orchestral, choir and world music are the specialities of Pierre Estève. His formation was done at the "Conservatoire Avignon et Montpellier", where he received two gold medals in guitar, musical theory and chamber music. He also obtained a diploma in harmony, counterpoint, fugue and musical analysis. Also studied were orchestral direction, singing, bassoon and double bass, as well of having studied with masters of various world instruments. With his own studio at his hands, Pierre also possesses several world instruments, including various bells and percussions, which he uses for playing his music. This makes him almost marginal compared to most of the other composers in the industry who relies mainly on synthesized sound banks.

Shooting Star was founded in 1996 and this label made it possible to publish his music on CDs. Most of his video game soundtracks have been published through it, and he also published three soundtracks that contained music from his co-worker at Cryo (at the time) and friend, Stéphane Picq. Estève's best work probably resides in the two Atlantis soundtracks, where ethnic and dreamy ambiance met and delivered a peaceful, yet emotionally engaging experience. In addition to his VGM work, Pierre also worked for the TV industry, providing music for programs such as "National Geographic", "Thalassa", "Faut pas rêver", "Dieux et Démons" and "Les gardiens de la forêt". He also released two albums under the "MADe IN" collection, which are thematic packages based on a single material and it's use by instruments around the world. The titles are: "Baboo" and "Metal", and another one is in the work, "Stone".
